Everything you loved about Heroku.
None of the uncertainty.
Keep the workflows your team already love, with a modern Heroku alternative offering better pricing, production controls, and long-term platform stability.
Everything Heroku does well.
Plus everything it doesn't.
Everything today's teams need to ship quickly, scale confidently, and stay focused on your customer.
Ship apps, not infrastructure
Focus on delivering value to customers while Build handles the operational heavy lifting.
Built for how teams work today
Docker, AI workflows, MCP servers, and production controls built directly into the platform.
Better performance. Predictable pricing.
Build owns the stack from hardware to runtime for better performance, greater stability and lower costs.
Enterprise security by default
SOC 2 certification, role-based access and private networking come standard on every plan.
Migrate from Heroku in less than 5 minutes.
Your existing Heroku apps, environment variables, and add-ons sync directly into Build in minutes.
Connect your Heroku account
Build imports your existing apps, environment variables, add-ons, and pipeline configuration automatically.
Validate your environments
Review and test workloads inside Build before changing production traffic.
Run in parallel, cut over when ready
Deploy to Build alongside Heroku. Validate, test, then switch DNS when you're confident. Zero downtime.
Join Heroku teams already on Build
The Build team are super responsive and eager to work with us to ensure our infrastructure needs are met as we scale. Quick to get on a call and offer proactive solutions to any issues we may see on the horizon.
Quick questions?
Is there downtime during the migration?
Migrating from Heroku to Build does not require downtime. You can run Build in parallel with Heroku to test and validate, switching traffic only when you are ready. The migration page breaks down the process for migrating to Build from Heroku.
Will my existing Heroku workflow still work?
Your Heroku workflow carries over to Build: git-based deploys, review apps, pipelines, one-click rollbacks, CI and shell access. If your team knows Heroku, they already know how to use Build.
Do I have to change or containerize my apps to move?
You do not have to change or containerize your apps to move to Build, because Build supports both Buildpacks and Dockerfiles. You choose the packaging, not the platform.
Do you help with the migration?
Engineer-led migration support is included as standard on all regular Build enterprise plans, so a Build engineer works alongside your team on the move.
How does Build compare to Render?
Render is a capable modern platform with first-class Docker and infrastructure-as-code. The difference is depth: Render is an application layer on AWS, while Build owns the full stack down to the hardware. See our Compare page.
How does Build compare to AWS?
Moving from Heroku to AWS returns all the operational work Heroku shielded you from: provisioning, networking, scaling and patching. Build gives you owned infrastructure with a Heroku-simple workflow. See our Compare page.
Why are teams leaving Heroku?
Teams leave Heroku when the price stops making sense or they hit the platform's limits. In February 2026 Salesforce moved Heroku into sustaining engineering: security patches continue, but there is no new feature development.
