Frequently asked questions
How do I qualify?
You need a referral from a Build.io partner, and you need to meet the eligibility criteria: a new Build.io customer, under 5 years in operation, earlier than Series B, and building your own product rather than client work.
What if my investor isn't a Build.io partner?
The program is only open to partner-referred startups. Ask your investor or accelerator about joining. They can email us with the link above to become a partner.
Which tier should I apply for?
Most startups qualify for the $50K tier. If your product runs heavy AI or data workloads, apply for the $200K tier for AI & data startups. We'll confirm the right tier when we review your application.
What can I spend the credits on?
Credits cover compute and add-ons, including managed PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, search and AI inference. Every platform feature is already included, so there's nothing else to pay for.
How long do the credits last?
Credits are valid for 12 months from the date they're issued.
What happens when my credits run out?
Our pricing is predictable and won't punish your success or slow you down. You'll never pay extra for platform features, just your compute and add-on resources. For more information check out build.io/pricing.
Is Build suited to AI and data workloads?
Yes. Build runs on hardware it owns, so compute-heavy workloads get better performance without paying a hyperscaler markup. Managed databases and AI inference run alongside your apps on the same platform.
Can I move an existing app to Build?
Yes. If you're coming from Heroku, our direct integration imports your apps, environment variables and add-on configuration in minutes.
